China blames US media for playing up Obama red carpet snub

President Obama took it like a man and moved on, knowing that more important things than his ego are at stake, an ego, fortunately for all of us, that is not as fragile as Donald Trump’s.

What the USA has tried to emphasise to China is that if it is working within global rules and worldwide norms, then they should be partners, he asserted.

The American leader said that “with increasing power comes increasing responsibilities”.

The South China Sea is a contested water area where China claims it is part of its sovereign lands, while its neighbors-U.S. allies-have been angered by Beijing’s military presence there.

“So where we see them violating global rules and norms, as we have seen in some cases in the South China Sea or in some of their behavior when it comes to economic policy, we’ve been very firm. It’s called no respect”, Trump said in April.

Meanwhile, the Turkish president said Ankara was working with US-led coalition forces and Moscow to instate a ceasefire in Aleppo for the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha, expected around September 11.

According to an outcomes list from the foreign ministry after the Saturday meeting between Xi and Obama, both countries said excess capacity in steel and other industries is a global issue which requires a collective response.

He said China can not expect to “pursue mercantilist policies that just advantage” itself now that China has become a more affluent, middle-income country.

“But, you know, you’ve got over a billion people, one of the largest economies now in the world”. You’ve got to have fair trade and not just free trade.

The United States will maintain its presence in the disputed South China Sea and East China Sea region, President Barack Obama said Tuesday. “You know, when we bind ourselves to a bunch of worldwide norms and rules it’s not because we have to, it’s because we recognize that over the long term, building a strong global order is in our interests”.
