The ARJ21 is China’s first regional jet made in line with worldwide standards.
The ARJ21, China’s first locally built regional jet, is created to compete against Embraer and Bombardier.
“The carrier, which is now operating 20 aircraft in the Airbus 320 family on over 50 domestic routes, plans to receive another four ARJ21-700s in the next year”, Zhuang said.
Flightglobal’s Fleets Analyzer shows that Comac garnered has 162 orders for the aircraft, mostly from Chinese carriers and leasing companies. Following its maiden flight in 2008, it was put through six years of grueling tests before being awarded airworthiness certificates from the Civil Aviation Administration of China, and U.S. Federal Aviation Agency.
It is also the first product of COMAC, which also makes a large passenger aircraft, the C919.
