Scores of senior officers within the social gathering, the federal government, the army and state-owned enterprises have been introduced down, together with Zhou, jailed for life in June after a secret trial in China’s most sensational graft scandal in 70 years.
Jiang Jiemin, former chairman of China National Petroleum Corp.
Jiang was an ally of former security chief Zhou Yongkang, the biggest official caught in the ongoing corruption crackdown in China.
Jiang also violated regulations by providing assistance to others, resulting in losses to the state, according to the court, which sentenced him to 16 years in prison.
The two officials are considered close to disgraced security czar Zhou Yongkang, the top-most CPC leader to be sentenced in China’s recent history after Bo Xilai, party leader from Chongqing.
A statement from a court in Hubei province carried by local media said Jiang was found guilty of “receiving bribes, possessing large amounts of assets of unknown provenance, and abusing power as a state-owned company employee”.
The statement said Mr. Li had taken bribes totaling 39.8 million yuan while holding various posts between 1999 and 2012.
Li Chuncheng, a former deputy party chief for the southwestern province of Sichuan, was also convicted of corruption Monday by a court in Xianning, in a different part of Hubei.
A court in the northeastern city of Tianjin opened the trial of another Zhou associate on Tuesday, former vice governor of the southern province of Hainan, Ji Wenlin, the official Xinhua news agency said.
