US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Tuesday said that India is emerging as a very important regional strategic partner for the United States that can help modernise Afghanistan both politically and economically.

The Senators said that the educational institutions and health facilities and other infrastructure of Pakistan had badly suffered due to blasts in the country following the then military ruler “General Pervez Musharraf’s complete surrender before the US”, the report said. “And we’ve not been fighting that way”.

Terrorists from their sanctuaries in Afghanistan carry out attacks on Pakistani border posts and, according to the ISPR, multiple attacks attempted on the night of Aug 13 were foiled because of improved security arrangements.

But ours is not an open-ended commitment “and our support is not a blank check”, the president emphasized. “What we do is always a joint effort between us and the ground troops”, Lehman said.

Trump also announced that he would “lift restrictions and expand authorities in the field”, but it remains unclear exactly what that would entail.

Denying that it provides safe havens to militants, Pakistan said that a complex interplay of geopolitics and the pursuit of “hegemonic policies” were to blame for the threat to peace and stability in South Asia.

“The words (of Trump) were very tough, but those words have been said before”.

“He has demanded a way forward placing primacy on the safety of America and her citizens”.

But other locals are saying they agree with President Trump’s plan of action. “Monday, he outlined a course that places us closer to that vision than ever before”, Kellogg asserted.

Asked about the recent effects of U.S. air strikes, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the group’s fighters had become used to dodging American bombs.

“We will not set arbitrary timelines”. The country is making important contribution to the development of Afghanistan as well as helping to build democratic institutions, the official said, adding that the U.S. “looks forward to continuing and expanding that involvement”.

“We’re going to attack terrorists wherever they live and we have put people on notice if you’re harbouring and providing safe haven to terrorists”, he said. There is no such thing as a clean slate.

A key plank of US President Donald J. Trump’s new strategy to turn around the 16-year conflict in Afghanistan will probably falter for a reason few of his voters would realize: China.

Pakistan is not seeking material or financial help from the USA, but Washington must trust and treat it with respect, Army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday told the United States envoy, a day after President Trump asked Islamabad to stop providing safe havens to terrorists.
