China wants mutually acceptable solution to issues with India
In a harsh attack on Indian public and the country’s media, the editorial termed India as a “spoiled” and “smug” nation, especially in global affairs.

The article pointed that, “India’s nationalists should learn how to behave themselves”.
The Global Times said in a hard hitting editorial that at least 10 countries, not just China, had opposed India’s attempt to become a member of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) at Seoul last week.
Much of its opposition to India’s membership definitely came in view of Pakistan, which too had applied for a NSG membership, but Beijing’s opposition was well-known to Delhi. “It is morally legitimate for China and other members to upset India’s proposal in defense of principles”, said the Global Times, which is part of the ruling Communist Party of China’s publications.
“Some Indians are too self-centered and self-righteous”. On the contrary it said, Indian government behaves decently and is willing to communicate.
Calling reactions by the Indian public and media “immature”, it made comparisons to the reaction of the Chinese public when the country was denied access to MTCR. But the fact that India had been trying to get in this body for some years now and was also rejected in the previous year, shows that quiet diplomacy often has better chance to succeed than highly publicized ones.
Finally, cautioning India not to throw tantrums, it advised that a nation with one fifth of China’s GDP should learn “how major powers play their games”.
The newspaper said United States backing adds the biggest impetus to India’s ambition.
Meanwhile on Monday, India became the 35th member of the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) – an association of countries that controls the proliferation of missiles and unmmanned delivery of weapons of mass destruction. “By cosying up to India, Washington’s India policy actually serves the goal of containing China”, it said. The daily, known for its nationalistic posture, said India is emerging as the “golden boy” of the West.

Verma also said that the US’ designation of India as a Major Defence Partner will bring the militaries, industries, and defence ministries of the two countries even closer in the years ahead. “By cozying up to India, Washington’s India policy actually serves the goal of containing China”, the article read. “The Chinese have become more mature in dealing with these setbacks caused by worldwide relations”, the daily said. Verma brought home the fact that United States has designated the country as “Major Defense Partner” and this means that the industries, militaries and defense ministries of United States and India will work closely in the years to come.
