The Ajanta caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, consist of about 30 rock-cut Buddhist monuments which date from the 2nd century BCE to about 650 CE. The Chinese leader arrived here on Tuesday night and is expected to leave for Kolkata on Wednesday evening.

He is also scheduled to meet President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi later on Friday.

The cultural ties between China and India have a long history and they would be further strengthened in the coming days, he asserted.
