‘She is slashed in her face, twice. The teen was taken to Long Island Jewish Hospital, where she is in stable condition after surgery. Her brother and sister were by her side Wednesday at the hospital, where she was treated for nonlife-threatening wounds, according to police. The attack happened a block from her home.

The aunt also told the newspaper: ‘There was so much blood…We hope he gets caught’.

‘She doesn’t know the man’.

‘She was carrying a cup of hot chocolate’. In a video footage of the incident, his face is not visible because of the hoodie he was wearing.

A policeman at the scene.

Police said: ‘The suspect, who was wearing [a] gray hooded sweatshirt with a black hood and black stripes on the sleeves, fled on foot west on 13th Avenue towards 146 Street’.

“In the last few months, there has been a pattern of attacks against Asian-Americans, especially with our own playwright David Henry Hwang”, he said.

The alleged attacker is seen on the video running up behind a 16-year-old girl who was walking alone to school.

Our thoughts are with the victim during her recovery.
