Chinese New Year Celebrates Year Of The Monkey
The Chinese lunar calendar Year of the Monkey was celebrated with the performance of an acrobatic troupe from China on Monday evening at Kutztown University.

South Fork Elementary School joined in on the Chinese New Year’s festivities, they brought in a traditional dragon dance, decorated the gym with red lanterns, children ran around with monkey masks and enjoyed traditional foods. “Chinese visitors to the museum increased about 30 percent past year”, Nora Gainer, director of Tourism Marketing, told Xinhua.
In addition to the festival, the museum has a new exhibit: “Tales of a Distant Past: The Story of Hong Kong and the Chinese Diaspora”, which follows the arrival of the early immigrants from Hong Kong to the United States. It is time for family reunions and paying respect to ancestors, a time to visit and welcome friends, a time to give thanks for the past year, and a time to welcome a new beginning.
