Chinese police cracks down on firm for making fake iPhones

The massive operation allegedly produced more than 40,000 units before police decided to take action, making nine arrests and confiscating over 1,400 fake handsets of different brands.
Apple is seeing China as its next big market, and the company’s business results show serious progress. The police arrested nine people – among the a married couple who were the leaders of the operation – during a bust at the facotry in May.
A police raid in Beijing has shut down a large counterfeit iPhone factory that had produced over 41,000 handsets, reported to be worth $19 million.

Police began investigating the corporate in May after fake China-made cell telephones have been seized within the US.
