Berkeley led a list of four University of California campuses among the top 25 in the ARWU rankings. The University of Jyväskylä, in turn, fell out of the top 500 entirely.

Berkeley has ranked among the top four institutions every year since 2003, the year the ARWU rankings debuted. This year, around half of the Top 100 comprises USA institutions.

The University of Oxford has been ranked as the seventh best university worldwide, according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).

Though less well known in the United Kingdom than the Times Higher Education (THE) rankings and the QS rankings, it is considered one of the world’s foremost ranking tables, with The Chronicle of Higher Education calling it “the best-known and most influential global ranking of universities”.
