Chipotle Faces Another Foodborne Illness Outbreak, This Time In Boston
Chipotle is already battling with an outbreak of E. coli in a number of states that battered the casual food chain’s sales as well as share price and has closed on a temporary basis the restaurant on Cleveland Circle where the students from Boston College reportedly ate. “If it’s in a restaurant, it’s on the tables”.

While there are still lines at Chipotle’s restaurants, there’s no line for Wednesday’s Boston College game after half of the men’s hoops team got sick from eating the chain’s grub. Boston health officials are interviewing all the Boston diners who got sick, asking what they ate, in the hope of identifying the contaminated food.
According to the letter, Norovirus can cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. closed the restaurant in Boston’s Cleveland Circle Monday and says it thinks the illnesses are the result of norovirus, not a multi-state outbreak of E. coli linked to its restaurants.
Boston Inspectional Services Commissioner William Christopher announced the results of an investigation into that Chipotle on Tuesday.
“All of the evidence we have points in that direction”, spokesman Chris Arnold said.
Scott Zoback of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health said it has been notified of the ailments and is investigating in conjunction with the Boston Department of Public Health.
Health officials have found three violations that include chicken and steak not being held at proper temperatures, and an employee working while ill. He said the restaurant’s permit to operate has been suspended by the city and that a disinfection process has begun.
Norovirus is sometimes overlooked, because it is less likely to kill you than disease-causing forms of E. Coli or salmonella. Neither Barry nor Christopher had information about the sick employee’s symptoms and could not say whether the worker was connected to the outbreak. The commission also said some non-Boston College patrons of the restaurant had reported symptoms as well.
Head Coach Jim Christian said he received a call from two players Sunday morning saying they had food poisoning.
