Chipotle Mexican Grill beats 2Q earnings expectations, misses revenue

Sales at restaurants open at least 13 months rose 4.3 percent in the quarter, following a 10 percent gain last quarter and trailing analysts’ 5.8 percent average estimate.

Chipotle fell 4.5 percent $642.94 at 4:23 p.m.in late trading in New York. Momentum had been building in the stock, which has gained about 12% this month. Revenues came in at $US1.2 billion, up 14.1% versus the forecast for $US1.22 billion.
