Chris Christie on Trump VP snub: Disappointed but ‘over it’

“He has shown no self-discipline, no self-control, no sense of history, no understanding of the limits, of the kind of power, that any president should impose upon himself”, Clinton said.

Pat Smith tells Republican delegates at their convention: “If Hillary Clinton can’t give us the truth, why should we give her the presidency?”.

Bracketing Trump, the presumptive Democratic nominee said “last night in Cleveland was surreal”, prompting a chorus of boos at the mention of her Republican rival’s name.

Republicans used the opening night of their nominating convention to sell itself as the national security party, and speakers tried to use the 2012 attack in Benghazi – and Hillary Clinton ‘s role in the US response – as a model of what not to do.

“If Donald Trump wants to make America great again, he should start by actually making things in America”, she said. “It goes against the ethos of every person who raised their right hand and swore to defend and protect the Constitution of the United States”.

Christie added that the facts of the former secretary of state’s life and career disqualify her from being president.

The work theme did make its way into a speech by Alaska Sen.

Christie – who fell short in his GOP presidential bid – said voters shouldn’t elect Clinton as president and reward what he calls her incompetence.

Realclearpolitics.com which maintains all major national polls, said Ms Clinton is leading Mr Trump by 3.2 per cent in an average of major national polls. The ABC/Post survey said 58 per cent of voters say they are dissatisfied with their choice between Ms Clinton and Mr Trump.

Clinton was investigated by a special House committee and testified before the committee for 11 hours about the Benghazi attack.

However, the State Department knew about her private server.

Clinton’s campaign quickly reacted to Christie’s speech.

According to Politico, the Secret Service spokesman Robert Hobackis said the agency is aware of Baldasaro’s statement and will “conduct the appropriate investigation”.

She declined to characterize Baldasaro’s role with the campaign or whether he would continue to travel with Trump on occasion.
