Chris Clemons tells Seahawks he is retiring
Good thing for the Seahawks they signed Chris Clemons to a no-risk, veteran-minimum deal this spring.

Chris Clemons won’t be returning to the Seattle Seahawks after all.
That report came from the NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo on Thursday, a day before Seahawks players are due to report for the start of training camp. After winning the Super Bowl with Seattle, Clemons spent the 2014 and 2015 seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 34-year-old Clemons re-signed with the Hawks in the off-season after spending the last two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He got a $1 million non-guaranteed salary, with a salary-cap charge of $1.5 million counting bonuses, according to overthecap.com.
Clemons missed most Seahawks workouts and practices that weren’t mandatory this offseason. He re-joined former Seattle defensive coordinator Gus Bradley in Jacksonville nearly immediately upon his release, signing a four-year deal worth $18 million. At one point coach Pete Carroll didn’t sound thrilled while saying Clemons obviously knew the meaning of the word “voluntary”.
Missing just two regular season games while in Seattle, Clemons registered double-digit sacks in three consecutive seasons from 2010 through 2012 while failing to do so in any other season.
In 12 National Football League seasons, Clemons has started 86 of 162 games played, with 258 total tackles and 69 sacks.

Overall, Clemons finishes with career numbers of 276 tackles and 69 sacks, despite starting more than half of his team’s games in just five seasons.
