Chris Evans to face no more questions on sex assault claim

After what can clearly be described as a month horribilis for former ‘Top Gear’ presenter Chris Evans, the broadcaster at last has some good news to celebrate.

The unnamed female producer said she was sexually assaulted by Evans while working on Channel 4 show “The Big Breakfast” in the 1990s.

A spokesman for Evans has also acknowledged the case had been dropped, stating, “The complaint has been investigated, but it fails to meet the evidential test to warrant any further action”.

‘The allegation was made by a woman against a man.

Evans, who has always denied the allegations, was quizzed by police under caution earlier today.

Police confirm the allegation was made by a woman earlier this year (16), but there is “insufficient evidence to proceed”.

The news will no doubt be a relief to the 50-year-old star, as he’s had a testing few weeks after quitting “Top Gear” after just one season and seeing his revamped “TFI Friday” not recommissioned for another series.

After the debut episode garnered a healthy iPlayer viewer rating, Chris said “Top Gear” was “repositioning” the way people watch TV, and that overnights don’t matter in this era of on-demand viewing.

“Chris is seen as a nightmare to deal with and I don’t think they want the hassle that comes with it”.

However, the Met have confirmed this afternoon that the case is no longer being pursued as there was “insufficient evidence to proceed”. The historic accusation that he had grabbed her breasts related to the 1990s. “He would scream and shout and swear at me if I told him something simple such as reminding him he was due on air in 10 minutes’ time”.
