Chris Ramsey: ‘Charlie Austin likely to stay’

Crystal Palace are ready to relaunch a move for Charlie Austin – but only if Queens Park Rangers lower the £15million valuation they’ve stuck to all summer.

Discussing a potential summer move for Austin, Sullivan claimed that the Hammers pulled out after he heard on the grapevine that the QPR striker has no ligaments left in his knees.

Austin reportedly failed a medical a couple of years ago but the 66-year-old’s comments have not gone down well with the England global.

“To sign a £15 million player is a big risk”. If he’d kept them up single-handedly you might say it was different.

Posting on Twitter he said: “I feel I have no option but to address the inaccurate, misleading and uninformed innuendo about my physical condition that has been raised today by an individual who is not privy to my personal health history”.

Sky Sports tried their best to report the whole story, but one reporter had a rather unfortunate slip which momentarily drastically changed the forward’s anatomy.

“Austin has been in good form at the start of the Championship season, bagging two goals in the Saturday’s 4-2 victory over Rotherham United“.

A host of teams continue to be linked with the former Burnley man, including West Ham, Bournemouth and Tottenham but Ferdinand says there have not been any recent bids.

Austin angrily denied Sullivan’s accusations, pointing to his 18 goals in the Premier League last campaign as a sign of his healthy body.

The player has started the season well, scoring twice so far for the Loftus Road side against Cardiff City and Wolves.
