In the Grammy nominations 2016, Kendrick Lamar along with his album “To Pimp A Butterfly” is holding the top spot.

With the nominations just out, it’s no surprise after her busy year that our main gal Taylor Swift is one of the top contenders with seven nominations.

For Record Of The Year, Ed Sheeran (Thinking Out Loud) is up against Taylor Swift (Blank Space), D’Angelo And The Vanguard (Really Love), Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars (Uptown Funk) and The Weeknd (Can’t Feel My Face). His album “Montevallo” is nominated in the best country album category for the upcoming Grammys and he has also done well at other awards shows this year.

The 58th Grammys will air live on February 15, 2016, from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

As for Swift’s former genre, country music (she previously announced that “1989” was her first official pop album), Chris Stapleton got a huge amount of attention after winning the major Album of the Year award as well as others at this year’s CMA Awards. Voting for the second round, completed by mail and starting next week, ends on January 15, 2016. Here’s the message she was sending to Grammys voters: Please don’t make me cry again, you heartless scoundrels, thank you.

The 2013 awards saw her win Best Pop Solo Performance and her total Grammy wins came to ten when her James Bond theme song Skyfall took out Best Song Written for Visual Media at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards in 2014.

When the Grammy Awards unfurls its list of nominees every December, it’s one of those high-viscosity news items that travels fast, especially in uncertain times.

Lamar and Swift also share a nomination for their collaboration on Swift’s Bad Blood, which featured the rapper, but will go head to head with Swift in the “Song of the Year” category, where his Alright competes with Swift’s Blank Space to be named the best track of 2015. Be clear that it’s little, but you know, they tried.

Kendrick Lamar has 11 Grammy nominations, including album of the year.

Immediate reaction: This category played out as expected, as Swift, Lamar and The Weeknd were locks – and many critics were cautiously optimistic about Southern rockers Alabama Shakes and country crooner Chris Stapleton, easily having the best year of his life.

Best dance recording: Above & Beyond featuring Zoë Johnston, “We’re All We Need”; The Chemical Brothers, “Go”; Flying Lotus featuring Kendrick Lamar, “Never Catch Me”; Galantis, “Runaway (U & I)”; Skrillex and Diplo With Justin Bieber, “Where Are Ü Now”.

Likewise, Dr. Dre’s well-received “Compton”, his first solo album in 16 years, generated only one nomination for the esteemed hip-hop star and producer, in the rap album category.

Home features two ragas, one of which is a creation of her late father Ravi Shankar.

And last but not least, Williams has been nominated for his music video “Freedom”.
