Chris Weidman speaks exclusively to Sky Sports ahead of UFC 194

Weidman said the incident occurred while he was going to the bathroom and after it happened, the school principal, vice principal and paramedics were called in to help him out.

On people being picky about their training partners: “I think it’s a bit of insecurity when people go out and seek the flawless training partner”.

Rockhold says Weidman has faced faded former champions during his title run and feels he is a much more hard task. At UFC 188 in Mexico City, Rockhold relentlessly offered his opinion on Fabricio Werdum, who would beat Rockhold’s teammate Cain Velasquez to claim the heavyweight crown.

“Chris has a lot of holes in his game and he hasn’t fought anybody that’s been able to exploit them until now”, Rockhold said. Boetsch had started earning some buzz earlier in the year as a result of his third-round knockout win against Yushin Okami in February, but “The Barbarian” was coming off a tepid performance in a split decision win over Hector Lombard as part of the ill-fated debut event in Calgary in July and very few people were in a rush to pay money to watch him fight again, regardless of who he was facing.

But at the same time Weidman respects Rockhold and knows the challenge that lies ahead of him at UFC 194. But as it turns out, the middleweight champ already works with a former kickboxing champion, Stephen Thompson.

The UFC is still pushing to become legalized in the state of NY, and Weidman has been a big voice in the cause. “Weidman’s gotta think twice if he thinks his wrestling is going to dictate where this fight takes place because I deal with that sh*t every day”. “He’s not just a good fighter, but just a good dude – just his grind that he puts himself through”. Not this guy. He’s got a job, he’s focused on his goals, and he does what he needs to do to get there.

‘I’m going to throw him around the ring, it’s going to be a fun night. But Weidman can’t see Rockhold (14-2) posing as many problems as his predecessors. Although he didn’t specifically mention Thompson, he referred to a sparring partner of the champ’s as “some karate kid”.

The No. 1 contender since his destruction of Lyoto Machida back in April, Rockhold has been oozing confidence in the lead up to his shot at the title.

On his plan for Weidman: “I’m going to kick like a man. I’m going to punch like a man, and I’m not going to run away from him”.
