Speaking with Australian film website, FilmInk, the director admitted that he considered casting Bale in a non-Dark Knight role.

The music maker told HeyUGuys: “If you look at the “Batman” movies I did with Chris, that was ten years of our lives, that’s a pretty chunky part of life.so it’s important that you keep it fresh”.
The catch? To play “The Wayne Investigation”, you need to have either an Amazon Echo smart speaker or an Amazon Fire TV enabled with Elexa, Amazon’s counterpart to Apple’s Siri. “We did talk about that briefly”, he added. I just wanted to hire Christian to play another part to make that obvious.
“However, I DO know a few folks who have seen BvS and all of them really liked it”, writes the website. That that’s why we did a reboot on the universe, so we could allow these characters to exist together.
Snyder doesn’t say which role Bale would have played, but it likely would have been something small – just a cute nod to Nolan’s films for the Batman fans. While it could be fun having Superman cameo in Wonder Woman’s film – an idea which could also help expand DC’s movie universe and develop the relationship between the characters pre-Justice League – having the first ever Wonder Woman film focused exclusively on that character is equally important.
Besides the titular superheroes, Batman v Superman will also feature appearances from Aquaman (played by Jason Momoa of Game of Thrones fame), The Flash (Ezra Miller), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot).
“The Dark Knight Returns” inspired Snyder’s take on Batman. We never had an older version of Lex in our movie. Snyder’s film is due to hit cinemas on 25 March. “Frank [Miller] and I share a lot of aesthetic interest, and certainly his portrayal of an old Batman in that novel inspired me, because it rings true”.
