Christian Eriksen Officially Signs New 4-Year Tottenham Contract Until 2020

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has admitted he thought last season’s Premier League title would be heading to White Hart Lane after the Lilywhites thrashed Stoke City 4-0 in April.

But Denmark worldwide Eriksen, signed from Dutch club Ajax in August 2013, admitted he was relieved to have committed his future to the north London team.

The 23-year-old endured a similarly slow start to last season and went seven Premier League matches before breaking his duck, yet ended the campaign with 25 top-flight goals.

“There is a great future at this place and I wouldn’t have signed if I didn’t see that”.

The record books will say three games and no loses for Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham team so far in 2016/17, but they’ve not exactly hit the ground running. “We have a squad to compete in different competitions, it will be tough for us the season so I am happy”.

Spurs also recruited goalkeeper Pau Lopez on a season-long loan deal from Espanyol, while Juan Pablo Gonzalez Velasco joined the North London club’s Under-18 group.

“I think Tottenham is a very big club for players that have passion and want to play – not only for money but to achieve things and enjoy football”. After spending many days as a youth player and only playing the game for fun, everyone now wants to get paid.

Schoots continued: “Christian is just very happy at Spurs, as a player and as a person”.

“He arrived with us for the first time yesterday [Wednesday] and he was in a good condition, but I will decide tomorrow”.

Pochettino said he was unconcerned by the lateness of the deals and praised Sissoko’s ability, with a potential debut at Stoke to come on Saturday.
