The Denmark global, 24, has made 134 appearances for Tottenham since joining them from Ajax in August 2013.
Eriksen was a top performer in the Tottenham side which made a strong push for the Premier League title last season before they tailed off and finished third.
Pochetinno was similarly delighted to have persuaded Eriksen that his future lies with the Lilywhites, saying: “It was important for him and important for the club”.
Pochettino’s side host Monaco in their opening Champions League fixture on Wednesday in the second of seven games in 22 days.
Several reports have suggested Manchester United, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid had also registered their interest but Schoots says he is very happy in England. Pochettino, however, refused to pick out a danger-man for the Potters, adding: “It is hard to guess because we don’t have the information”.
The Tottenham boss has yet to decided whether new signings Moussa Sissoko and Georges-Kevin N’Koudou will start but I think we’ll see the pair named on the bench tomorrow.
“The first thing that struck me with the three guys we’ve brought in is that we’ve brought in good characters, people who take responsibility”, said assistant manager Mark Bowen.
