Christian Eriksen turns down new contract at Tottenham Hotspur?

Tottenham have looked to solve the issue, with the contract offer on the table around £50,000 p/w, but it’s thought that the attacking midfielder is seeking another £20,000 per week on top of that, to take him in line with some of the best paid players at the Lilywhites.

Tottenham have wanted to tie up a new deal for Eriksen, 24, for almost a year.

Eriksen now earns £30,000 a week and is looking for a bumper pay rise to put him on a par with some of Spurs’ biggest earners.

In addition, it was revealed that Hugo Lloris is now the club’s top wage earner at £80k/wk, with Erik Lamela earning £70k/wk, Mousa Dembele at £65k/wk, and Harry Kane at £50k/wk (though there are rumors Kane is also in negotiations to double his wages).

The Standard reports that Eriksen is only making £30,000/wk in wages on his current deal at Tottenham, which expires in two years. After scoring the winning goal at Manchester City in February, Eriksen said: “We’re still talking about the contract”.

Standard Sport revealed in May that Juventus had sounded out intermediaries about Eriksen’s availability but the Italian champions eventually went for Miralem Pjanic from Roma.

With the likes of Erik Lamela and Mousa Dembele both earning more than double the former Ajax man, it is perhaps little surprise he wants a big-money deal to renew with the club. With Vertonghen and Eriksen out of contract in 2018, Levy wants to tie down two of their star performers last season to prevent them from heading into the final year of their respective contracts.
