It’s over. Christie Brinkley and John Mellencamp have split after one year of dating, Us Weekly can confirm. “They vowed to remain best of friends”.

Earlier this year, Brinkley told People that she and the IN based rocker were “really opposites… He’s kind of a throwback from another time, like a silent cowboy, ‘” she told People.
But even then, Christie admitted maintaining the relationship took a lot of work. Last December, Brinkley happily shouted out Mellencamp by wearing a tour T-shirt bearing his name when she attended her ex-husband Billy Joel’s concert at Madison Square Garden in NYC.
Christie, 62, lives in the Hamptons, while John is situated in Indiana.
Inquired as to whether the pair was thinking about marriage, she answered, “You never truly recognize what’s going to happen”.
“I thought, “Gracious my gosh, we’re truly alternate extremes”, she reviewed to People magazine a month ago. John and I are two individuals that have full lives. All that travel just didn’t fit in with the other commitments they both had on their plates, and eventually, they had to admit the mix just wasn’t working out for them.
“I know guys that go out with girls that are so, so young”, she continued.
Brinkley said in June the two were just hoping to enjoy each others’ company and weren’t putting too much pressure on it.

The former Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue cover model has been busy promoting her own line of prosecco, Bellisma, while the musician is getting ready to hit the road again next month. “They’ll toss some reference out, and they’re similar to, ‘What’s that?’ When it comes to connections, there is something decent about simply being the same age”.
