Christie calls Cruz speech ‘awful’ and ‘selfish’

Ted Cruz, the victor of the Iowa caucuses, congratulated Donald Trump on Wednesday night for winning the Republican presidential nomination, but he did not outright endorse him, an omission that drew a huge reaction from the crowd with many booing him as he left the stage.

But an overt endorsement for the party’s now official presidential nominee?

Senator Ted Cruz, Governor Scott Walker and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich are also scheduled to deliver remarks. “It changes the game, I think for Donald Trump”.

Recalling the life of one of the Dallas police officers killed earlier this month, Cruz said the nation owes much to the children of “fallen heroes” who have sacrificed all.

The remarkable moment upended what was shaping up to be the convention’s most successful night, and overshadowed Indiana Gov. Mike Pence’s national convention debut as Trump’s running mate.

He called Trump “a man of faith, a man of conviction, a man you can trust” and said “there is no doubt in my mind he will bring real change to Washington”. Graciousness is not a quality normally associated with Cruz, but, then again, Trump’s primary campaign behavior, baselessly insinuating that Cruz’s father was associated with Lee Harvey Oswald, was so despicable as to evoke that rarest of sentiments: sympathy for Cruz.

In a brief interview with The Associated Press, Manafort dismissed the importance of Cruz using the word endorse.

Cruz didn’t tell the convention crowd that he plans to vote for Trump.

Pence said in his speech at the party’s convention Wednesday night that Republicans will retake the presidency in November because they’re being honest with Americans about the stakes in the election – and the choice facing voters.

Hillary Clinton’s campaign capitalized on the opportunity to agree, urging people to register to vote and chose her in November.

According to CBS News, Cruz addressed recent incidents of gun violence in the country and overseas while emphasizing that, “We’re fighting – not for one particular candidate or one campaign – but because each of us wants to be able to tell our kids and grandkids.that we did our best for their future, and for our country”.

Melania Trump faced accusations of plagiarism after it was discovered that lines in her remarks matched nearly word for word a convention speech delivered by Michelle Obama in 2008.

Even Trump took to Twitter to express his nonchalant sentiments about the whole debacle.

“On the world stage, Donald Trump will lead from strength”, Pence said, saying his new partner would confront radical Islamic terrorism “at its source” and rebuild the military. “She was trying to leave”, Mr Cuccinelli said.

Ted Cruz just launched his 2020 campaign by stabbing Donald Trump in the back.

In his convention address, Cruz spoke at length about the recent stretch of violence across the country. Referring to Clinton as “secretary of the status quo”, Governor Pence told the audience at the Republican National Convention that he believes America can “do better”.

Trump’s son, Eric, also addressed the convention.

If they don’t, he said, a victory by the Democrats’ nominee “would just be a third Obama term”.
