Mike Pence, making his first appearance in Cleveland since being named Donald Trump’s running mate, tried to reassure Republicans nervous about the celebrity businessman’s conservative credentials by vouching for his character and comparing him to Ronald Reagan. Trump said he also valued Pence’s 12 years of experience on Capitol Hill, which could help him advance his agenda. While not a farmer, he understands and values agriculture. In fact, Pence never acknowledged disagreeing with Trump on anything, notwithstanding a clear and obvious record of policy differences. My concern has been that even brilliant counselors might not be able to penetrate Trump’s ego and that Trump might not be sufficiently informed on the issues to benefit greatly from wise counsel with which he instinctively disagrees.

I acknowledge that, on the other hand, it could be a cynical move. “They are not particularly beneficial in the more pragmatic role of governor”.
Trump also offered new details about why he selected Pence as his running mate.
Bee showed footage of people booing Pence being while he threw out the first pitch at an IN baseball game, along with negative headlines criticizing him as being out of his league. “But until you get finished, you won’t”, he said.
Trump had initially said he would delay the announcement out of respect for the victims of the terror attack in Nice, France, which occurred late Thursday night.
Repeatedly calling Trump “this good man”, Pence touted Trump’s credentials to the American Conservative Union here. I also believe he is a good man – a man of wisdom, humility, maturity and judgment – who not only talks the Christian talk but walks the Christian walk. While he says Mr. Pence, was supportive, many in the group anxious that the effort would lead to the use of government funds to support paid volunteers at family-planning organizations that provide abortions.
Ilya Sheyman, executive director of MoveOn.org Political Action, released a statement which said, “If Trump picks extreme right-wing Governor Mike Pence as his running mate, he will be doubling down on his divisive and hate-filled approach to politics”.
Donald Trump’s Presidential campaign is going to extreme lengths to try and scrub all reference to a logo that was mocked for being sexual.

Pence’s name leaked out earlier in the week, with the Trump campaign downplaying the speculation, fueling rumors of discord with the choice. I choose to hope that is the case, anyway.
“Mike Pence is a great guy”. Would they rather Trump have picked a mirror image of himself?
“This new Trump-Pence ticket stands in dramatic contrast to Hillary Clinton’s vision of our future – one where we are stronger together, where unity prevails over division and the economy works for all Americans, not just those at the top”.
“I am going to have very few troops on the ground”.
