Christie responds to Bridgegate revelations

Christie is also widely suspected to be angling for a position in Trump’s future cabinet.

Chris Christie at the first GOP debate of the 2016 season. (And as we have seen in the past, Christie is one to jump the gun if he gets irritated.) Christie and members of his office have continually denied of having any involvement in the controversy, but new court documents have revealed otherwise. The revelation could be the beginning of new disclosures in the case.

Sheridan responded that Christie was “doing fine” and “holding his own up there”, according to the filing. “Holding his own up there”, Sheridan texted back on December 13, 2013.

The prosecution team, meanwhile, “continues to ignore” evidence Baroni’s lawyers say clear him of wrongdoing, such as the texts between Renna and Sheridan.

Renna, while listening to the news conference, sent a text to Sheridan saying that Christie “lied” and acknowledging that “if emails are found with the subpoena.it could be bad”. “It’s ridiculous”, Christie said.

“I absolutely dispute it”.

The scandal severely damaged Christie’s standing in New Jersey, leading to David Wildstein, the Christie-appointed Port Authority official behind the Fort Lee Bridgegate traffic jam, pleading guilty previous year to two counts of conspiracy. “There’s nothing new to talk about”, Christie told the Associated Press, regarding the new texts.

Christina Genovese Renna worked under Bridget Anne Kelly, a former deputy chief of staff to the governor, who is facing federal charges for allegedly carrying out the lane closures with Bill Baroni, a former Christie appointee at the Port Authority, and David Wildstein, who worked under Baroni and is cooperating with federal authorities.

The text exchange was introduced by an attorney for Baroni as part of an argument over what evidence should be admitted at trial.

Former Port Authority official David Wildstein, a high school classmate of Christie’s, has pleaded guilty and will testify for the government. Baroni is one of three former Christie allies charged by federal prosecutors with conspiring to cause massive traffic jams at the bridge in September 2013.

“Oh yeah”, Christie said.

“The Governor’s statements have been clear”.

The Republican said Wednesday that a former aide’s text message to a colleague that the governor “flat out lied” about the involvement of his staffers in the scandal was not true. Stepien’s attorney, Kevin Marino, said Renna testified to a state legislative committee investigating the scandal and “in no way, shape or form did she suggest that Mr. Stepien was knowledgeable about or involved in the Bridgegate affair”. The plaintiffs in the (George Washington Bridge) class action lawsuit sued every potential party they could identify and voluntarily dismissed their claims against Mr. Stepien.
