Christie to Colorado: Pot party ends with me

“If you’re getting high in Colorado today, enjoy it”, Mr. Christie said Tuesday during a town-hall meeting in New Hampshire, Bloomberg reported.

“Listen, if the son and the brother of a former president doesn’t get establishment support, then he shouldn’t even be in the ring”, Christie said during an appearance on Fox’s The Five – asserting that he had enough money to be competitive in the race.

Forget that, Christie said, according to NJ.com.

But marijuana, be it medical or recreational, remains prohibited under federal law, and states rely on guidance from the Department of Justice urging federal prosecutors to refrain from targeting state-legal operations. Ted Cruz, instead say they would leave the question of routine marijuana enforcement up to the states.

This is a problem for Christie because he has oriented his presidential campaign around winning New Hampshire, which holds the first primary in the nation. Since even before his presidential announcement, the governor has repeatedly criticized the Obama administration’s approach to Cuba, often citing how Joanne Chesimard, who shot and killed a New Jersey state trooper in 1973, was granted political asylum there after she escaped from prison.

Pew, meanwhile, found in a poll in 2014 53 percent of Americans support the legalization of marijuana and only 44 percent opposed.

Christie said that working with Democrats in his state has shown him that compromise does not mean capitulation.

“I recognize though that people have an image of my state and, rightfully so, of being one that’s really restrictive on gun rights”, Christie said.

“We don’t have the right to stop Israel from acting in what they believe to be their national interest”, Christie said during a foreign-policy forum in Manchester organized by Americans for Peace, Prosperity and Security, a group led by former U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers.
