Christie trashes Ted Cruz again at RNC 2016
The fiercely loyal Trump clan bristled at Quicken Loans Arena as Cruz appeared to launch his 2020 presidential bid during his 21-minute speech. And almost every speaker that yelled at their senator implored him to endorse Trump, with Cruz repeatedly declining to give an inch. Last night was a speech that was focused entirely on the United States of America on a path forward.

He said the country and the world were far less stable than when President Barack Obama made the decision to put his campaign opponent Hillary Clinton in charge of America’s foreign policy.
“There were a lot of people that were asking for change, so there is a similarity between Trump and Bernie Sanders in the change element but in terms of policies they are entirely different”, Tammen said. “I mean, the whole thing is ridiculous”. With his running mate, Mike Pence, standing silently and awkwardly behind him – remember: Pence backed Cruz before surrendering to Trump – Trump brought up the conspiracy theory he got from the National Enquirer. He again blasted what he called the unfair trade tactics of competitors like China.
During the question and answer section, Cruz sparred with a few Trump supporters, one of whom (loudly) reminded the Texas senator he was supposed to honor his pledge and support the party.
Both Cruz and the Trump campaign acknowledge that Wednesday night wasn’t a surprise.
Here’s how she put it: “For more than a year, Donald Trump has been the people’s champion”.
In a direct appeal to Americans shaken by a summer of violence at home and around the world, Trump promised that if he takes office in January, “safety will be restored”. When the crowd chanted, ‘Lock her up! “They do reinforce biases so if you’re pro-Trump, you’re going to be enthusiastically pro-Trump after tonight and if you’re not, the converse also holds”.
And as in previous rallies, Trump had to pause at one point as a protester heckled him and had to be removed by security. “I believe in treating people with civility”, he said.
“I don’t know his father – I met him once – I think he’s a lovely guy”, said Trump.
On the final day of the convention, where Trump himself was slated to give his big address, the morning headlines were dominated by something he’d already said, to the New York Times.
“That’s who he is and it’s why he is the most disliked person in either party on Capitol Hill”, he said. “Great love in the arena!” Daughter Ivanka will introduce Trump Thursday night and he will be joined by wife, Melania, and their son, Barron. The same allies who responded within 24 hours of the 9/11 attacks by invoking Article 5 of NATO’s Washington Treaty and saying that an armed attack against one NATO country is an armed attack against all NATO countries.
Republicans, including Trump, have criticized the recent determination by FBI Director James Comey that Clinton shouldn’t face charges.
The controversy of the convention came to a head on Wednesday night, when Sen.
“That pledge was not a blanket commitment that if you go and slander and attack Heidi, that I’m going to nonetheless come like a servile puppy dog and say thank you very much for maligning my wife and maligning my father”, Cruz told members of the Texas delegation Thursday morning.

During the primary campaign, Trump sent out Twitter messages threatening to “spill the beans” about Cruz’s wife, Heidi, and Trump implied that Cruz’s father had been photographed with Lee Harvey Oswald, the assassin who killed President John F. Kennedy.
