Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Chuck Grassley welcomed Prof Ford’s offer.

Blasey Ford’s lawyer wrote in the email that she’d like to call committee staffers later Thursday to “discuss the conditions” of her potential testimony.

Katz reiterated that Ford would like the FBI to investigate before her testimony. “Because this never happened, I had no idea who was making this accusation until she identified herself yesterday”, Kavanaugh said Monday. And now the Senate Judiciary Committee and the media are investigating Kavanaugh’s alleged groping of a woman when he was in high school. The FBI has said it is not investigating the matter, a decision backed by Republicans.

What are Ford’s lawyers saying? But when word leaked out that Feinstein had some information about an allegation regarding Kavanaugh, Ford detailed the incident in an interview with the Washington Post published online September 16. “Fairness and respect for her situation dictate that she should have time to deal with this”.

Collins, who is not a member of the Judiciary Committee, contradicted Grassley, saying “if we need additional help from the Federal Bureau of Investigation we could ask for it-the committee could ask for it”.

Why did the Senate set a deadline?

According to her lawyer, Ford is willing to testify in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Kavanaugh wrote to Grassley in a letter released by the White House that he looks forward to testifying.

Judge Kavanaugh, 53, has agreed to testify to the judiciary committee, which vets Supreme Court nominees, on Monday.

“The FBI does not make a credibility assessment of any information it receives with respect to a nominee”. Though she made no public comments about what was happening at the border as they occurred throughout June, CNN mentioned that she was against the policy and even spoke to her father before he signed his zero-tolerance executive order.

“If she doesn’t want to participate and tell her story, there’s no reason for us to delay”, Sen.

What is the allegation against the judge? But top Republicans, including some who have expressed concern about Kavanaugh in light of the allegations, are indicating that they plan to vote on President Donald Trump’s second nominee to the nation’s high court if Ford doesn’t appear before the panel on Monday.

While it’s true that Martha Kavanaugh was one of two judges who handled the foreclosure case, initially filed in 1996, she was actually the judge who granted the bank’s motion to dismiss the case after the Blasey’s refinanced.

Miranda noted on Twitter that she did not have “first hand knowledge” of the incident. The allegations have been denied by Kavanaugh, and Judge claims to have no recollection of the events described. But other sources mention that Kavanaugh isn’t the only name on Trump’s shortlist.

Although inferring otherwise, Whelan said he’s not insinuating that the man he publicly named and shared photos of did anything wrong, or that Ford is now “mistakenly remembering” this man as Kavanaugh. “If she shows up that would be wonderful, if she doesn’t show up that would be unfortunate”.

Republicans have largely stood by Mr Kavanaugh’s denials. Kavanaugh has called Ford’s allegation “completely false”.

The statement to the Senate came after Republicans vowed Thursday morning to press forward with a vote on Kavanaugh if Ford declined to testify on Monday.
