Christopher Biggins defends controversial comments

“If people are removed for saying things that viewers could find offensive, surely the Big Brother house should be empty now”, he tweeted before criticising the show for removing Biggins but allowing Aubrey O’Day to remain despite spitting in Stephen Bear’s food and drink.

Mr. Biggins was earlier targeted by Twitter trolls who “leaked” a faked transcript of a conversation between the comedian and other housemates, where he was alleged to have made antisemitic and racist comments.

Biggins’ comments were cut from the show by Channel 5 but rumours began to leak out on Friday of his allegedly anti-Semitic remarks.

Mob Wives star Renee Graziano replied: “That upsets me”.

“I know he only meant it as a joke, but back then it wasn’t taken that way, as it wasn’t last week in the Celebrity Big Brother house”. “I found Katie and said ‘I am mortified, ‘” he told The Sun.

Producers listed three occasions including one which occurred during a conversation with former X factor contestant Katie Waissel after she said she was not in the house to represent the Jewish community.

During his time on the program, Biggins, who is homosexual and has a civil union with a same-sex partner, blamed bisexuals for the spread of AIDS.

Biggins had also claimed bisexuals were “people not wanting to admit they are gay”.

Showbiz agent Jonathan Shalit, who represents Biggins, told Jewish News: “I have been close friends and worked with Biggins for many years and can confirm that he would never intentionally cause offence”.

Christopher Biggins has faced a huge amount of backlash over slurs made in the Celebrity Big Brother house – and it looks set to continue.

“I think it was a bisexual disease to be honest”, he adds.

However, anyone hoping that Channel 5 would relent and air the footage in question – Katie was apparently left in tears, though she later accepted Biggins’ apology – will most likely be disappointed…

Prior to his removal Biggins, who won ITV jungle reality show I’m A Celebrity in 2007, had been a popular contestant on the show, and was considered the favourite to win it. He has since been banned from hosting events with Stonewall until he says he’s “sorry”.

He explained: “The worst type of people I’m afraid to say is bisexuals. I know it’s going to be frightful”, he told The Sun newspaper.
