Chrome for iOS adds multitasking support for iPad

Following Apple’s launch of its Split View and Picture-in-Picture multitasking features in iOS 9, Google Chrome is leaping on the bandwagon. A recently released update of the web browser allows user to mute individual tabs, while the update for iPad now supports iOS 9’s multitasking features.

That is, assuming the apps you want to multitask with are updated to support Split Screen use.

Alternatively you could open up both Chrome and Safari at the same time, essentially letting you surf multiple websites side-by-side. While I use a lot of third-party apps, the one I use most is Safari.

Chrome for iOS has also gained a feature that has been available on Windows, Mac, Linux and Android for ages, called Autofill. This means that you can use Chrome side-by-side with another app if you’re using a device that supports it (Split View works on iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4, and iPad Pro, while Slide Over requires at least iPad Air or iPad mini 2).

Good news, iPad users: Chrome is about to double the fun on Apple’s tablet.

Apple’s iOS 9 also supports Slide Over and Picture in Picture on iPad Pro, iPad Air or later, and iPad mini 2 or later.

iPad users now have awesome news regarding their devices: Google Chrome is ready to offer more split view tasks to play with at the same time and on a single screen.

Chrome for iOS is getting a couple of new improvements, Google announced on Friday.

According to the change log, the Chrome 46 for iOS also comes with improved handling of RTL languages.
