Chrysler 300 may go front wheel drive
“This plant and this architecture is capable of making the 300 successor, the front-wheel, all-wheel drive successor”, said Marchionne. The automobile manufacturer has chose to focus on newer models and better architecture so as to reach the younger generation.

Despite this quote blatantly hinting that the next-gen Chrysler 300 will no longer be rear-wheel drive, when Marchionne was asked to confirm the change, he became a bit vague.
If you are a fan of the Chrysler 300, then we have some bad news for you. The reason is the new Pacifica. The large sedan is now made at the brand’s plant in Brampton, Ontario, but it’s possible that it will move its production to the Windsor plant. The next generation of the Chrysler 300 is about to be designed and built on the Pacifica minivan architecture. The minivan is dimensionally bigger in nearly every way, so it seems that the company could most certainly use the Pacifica architecture to create the next generation Chrysler 300 sedan while keeping the interior and exterior dimensions of a large sedan.
Nevertheless, it remains uncertain on how the world of cars and drivers would accept the transformation that Chrysler 300 would undergo, as apprehensions of the transformation worth the money and stake continue to arise.
Next to issues of image, Fiat-Chrysler faces a few challenges in transitioning its full-size cars to a front-drive platform, namely where to built such vehicles.
One thing to consider is Sergio Marchionne’s desire to remove competition across their brands and there is no question that the Chrysler 300 and the Dodge Charger are very, very similar vehicles.

At the moment the Chrysler 300 is made alongside the Challenger and Dodge Charger is Bramption and the platform is that of the LX.
