Chuck Pagano faced an uphill battle to remain coach of the Colts

With Marcus Mariota and Andrew Luck both under center for their respective teams, it was one of the more exciting games the Titans played all year, and unfortunately, lost on what I felt was a dumb call by former head coach Ken Whisenhunt.

Grigson being held on for the coaching search does not guarantee he’ll remain the Colts general manager through next season, Wells reports.

The odds of the Colts making the postseason are definitely against them but Chuck Pagano was upbeat and welcomed the pressure. Pagano entered after the departure of Peyton Manning, and helped nurture the growth of Andrew Luck in his first few seasons.

“Not really” with a smile was his response to a reporter asking if he wanted to talk about what quarterback would start Sunday, following up with a “TBA”.

Barring a miraculous playoff berth, the Indianapolis Colts are prepared to fire their head coach, Chuck Pagano sources told ESPN.

The Colts were able to make their rise before this season’s fall despite the dysfunction between the front office and the coaching staff, Bob Kravitz of WTHR-TV in Indianapolis has reported.

Pagano was also asked about owner Jim Irsay’s New Year’s Eve statement that no decision has been made about his future. Pagano struggles to game plan effectively at times and his team’s play has been inconsistent for the past three seasons. But I guess you have to weigh, you have a guy who’s never played but knows your system a little bit vs a guy who has not been here, but has played.

Irsay’s decision to let Pagano walk means he’s siding with Grigson-at least for now. In 2010, Freeman flourished, throwing for 3,451 yards, 25 touchdowns and only six interceptions as Tampa Bay went 10-6 and almost made the playoffs.

In his fourth season at the Colts’ helm, Pagano led Indianapolis to identical 11-5 marks in each of his first three seasons.

“I will fight my a- off to be the coach here”, he said this week. The question here is whether Irsay pushes the reset button and gets rid of (general manager) Ryan Grigson too. I’m anxious about Tennessee. “I think the biggest thing is just knowing where the ball has to go”.

It will likely take a near-miracle for Indy to pull off one of the most complicated Week 17 clinching scenarios in the history of the league and steal the division crown from the first-place Houston Texans.

If the Colts were to pull off a miracle playoff push, the next Colts home game would on January 9th and the current average ticket price is $174.82 with a get-in price of $61.
