It isn’t exactly clear what type of church it is, but it’s set to open next month.
A giant blue building – shaped like a high-heeled shoe – is actually a church.
Zheng Rongfeng, a spokesman for the Southwest Coast National Scenic Area, told Huanqiu.com, the church is a way of drawing in female worshippers. Does your entirely shoe-focused mind even know how to process this??
As a tourist attraction and obvious photo-opp, a heel-shaped church is kind of brilliant.
The structure, located at Ocean View Park in Budai Township, is made from 320 panes of blue-tinted glass and stands 17 meters tall and 11 meters wide.
The project was reportedly inspired by a local story.
It’s still under construction, but that’s not stopping tourists from visiting.
The church, although apparently modern, draws on traditions within Taiwanese culture. From another user: “Why don’t people say that it’s objectifying women this time…” “It’s just disrespectful”, said one user on popular Chinese microblogging site Weibo.
