In his way of his first masters title will be world number two and top seeded Andy Murray.

Unseeded Dimitrov will tackle Johnson in the quarters while Croatian teenager Coric tests his skills against his countryman Marin Cilic, a 6-3 4-6 6-4 victor over Czech Tomas Berdych in the late-night match at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.

Marin Cilic upset the odds to down top seed Andy Murray in Cincinnati, ending the Brit’s lengthy unbeaten run in the process. I keep saying over and over that Murray is playing the best tennis of his career, and his shotmaking and defense have been jaw dropping during this stretch.

The Scot will play either Croatia’s Marin Cilic or Grigor Dimitrov – the latter is unseeded here – in Sunday’s final.

On reaching the 600-win milestone, Murray told atpworldtour.com: “It’s cool that it happened in Cincinnati”. Today I also did a better job of creating opportunities on his serve that I didn’t make count. But this week has been hard for me coming from Rio.

“I had some pretty good wins along the way”.

“I’m in another final now. I have a few days off when this week is done and then I’ll prepare for the US Open”.

Murray was to play in his seventh straight final after winning his 22nd consecutive match.

Murray displayed yet another remarkable game at the Cincinnati Masters after defeating Canada’s Milos Raonic 6-3 6-3 to extend his career-long 22 straight wins. A third match point arrived after a forehand victor by Murray, but this time, the top seed was determined to close the match and so he did when he hit a volley victor to book his spot in the final.

The Murray and Cilic final will begin after the women’s final that features Angelique Kerber and Kristina Pliskova with the number one ranking on the line.

“I certainly didn’t expect to get to the final when I got here but overall it was a very, very positive week”.

“If it happens, it will be incredible”. The consistency of the Brit persisted as he scored another hold to love, proving that he wasn’t slowing down, but his opponent was using his serve to avoid facing any break points.

“I was just hoping the ball would fly in”, Kerber said. “I’m so happy to have beaten such a tough player”. I think he made maybe more mistakes than usual because of that.
