This is the 15th time Google has presented its data on the biggest trends of the year, giving everyone an insight into the most searched terms of 2015.
Google have released their review of 2015 – 2015 A Year in Search – and among the biggest stories from around the world – and even beyond planet earth – a moment in Dublin has been included. Cilla Black was also the top trending search term overall. Leone was followed closely by actor Salman Khan and the late former President of India APJ Abdul Kalam.
Other things people really wanted to know: “how many calories in a Starbucks flat white?’, “What to wear on the first day of school” (not a problem in most Australian schools, where the answer will be: your uniform) and ‘how to use Snapchat”. A large part of this list is occupied by celebrities, notably, Bollywood actors.
Among the year’s top search questions posed worldwide were “how can I help Nepal” after the 8.1-magnitude natural disaster there April 25; “how can I help the refugees” during the massive influx into Europe in September; and “how can the world find peace”, the company said. The most asked question related to the franchise is “What order should I watch Star Wars?” and the top searched film since 2004, the newest one aside, was “A New Hope”.
Micromax-owned YU’s Yureka phone was the top searched smartphone of the year, while Apple’s iPhone 6S was a close second. So, which newsmakers and trends captured the imagination of the world in 2015?
