Cillessen is aware of Barcelona interest, according to his boss at Ajax

Ajax, Middlesbrough and Everton could all make a loan offer for Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul, according to the Daily Mail.

The report suggests Krul could initially leave on loan for the season and then return to St James’ Park should the Magpies earn promotion back to the Premier League. Ever since it was clear that the England number 1 has fallen out of favour under Pep, it was widely speculated that Pep will be going after Barcelona keeper Claudio Bravo which is on the verge of being materialized.

Spanish football giants FC Barcelona is offering between 10 and 12 million euros ($11.31 to $13.58 million) to seek the transfer of Dutch goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen from club Ajax.

They lost to Willem II for the first time ever in Amsterdam at the weekend with youngster Andre Onana handed his debut between the sticks.

The 28-year-old is close to full fitness after a knee ligament injury.

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez brought in Matz Sels over the summer, seemingly demoting Krul to number two duties on Tyneside.

“He has footwork of a sufficient level to play for Barca without any problems, and he’s also good in terms of reflexes, in one-on-ones, in the air”.

“We have Sels now, we have Darlow and we have Woodman so we can’t keep five keepers for the whole season”. “It was tough for him to be changed but we had to do what was best for the team, and that was to put Krul on penalties”.

The move is expected to be finalized once City gets their Bravo deal done and Cillessen paves the way for Krul.

That deal won’t go through until later this week, with Ajax refusing to complete the sale before their Champions League qualifier with Rostov on Wednesday.
