Cillian Murphy Joins Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk
Murphy, who previously starred for Nolan in the Dark Knight trilogy and Inception, will play a supporting role alongside Inception co-star Tom Hardy, as well as Mark Rylance and Northern Ireland’s Kenneth Branagh.

Nolan will be directing from his own script, and co-producing with his wife and producing partner Emma Thomas.
With production kicking off in just over a month, Christopher Nolan has been assembling his ensemble for Dunkirk, an IMAX-shot World War II actioner that Warner Bros. have given a prime summer spot on their 2017 slate. No word yet on a part for Michael Caine, but surely there is one, right?
Murphy, of course, is no stranger to a Nolan enterprise, with the actor and director collaborating on no less than four films.
“Dunkirk” will tell the story of the hard evacuation of 300,000 Allied forces from the beaches and harbour of Dunkirk, France, in June 1940, named Operation Dynamo.
The director has also been keen to cast relative unknown actors, including Fionn Whitehead, who only has one TV mini-series credit to his name, and United Kingdom actors Jack Lowden and Aneurin Barnard. Ironically, Murphy can next be seen in the similarly WWII-set drama “Anthropoid”. And with Nolan shooting on film with Interstellar DOP Hoyte van Hoytema on board, expect a cinematic experience every bit as awe-inspiring as Spielberg’s 1998 World War II epic.
Filming gets underway in May in numerous real locations where the historical events occurred.

At this rate, Dunkirk is rapidly shaping up to be a regular Christopher Nolan film-set-family reunion.
