Cincinnati Bengals: Offense flounders again in Week 2 defeat to Houston Texans
Covering almost half the football field in a hurry, Watson provided the primary early highlight for a sluggish Texans offense that struggled to consistently move the football against the Bengals.

The Bengals took over as the worst team from OH after their Week 1 scoreless performance against the Ravens. The Texans were bad on both sides of the ball, and need to get into shape in a hurry if they want to contend for the division. “I mean, this kid’s going to get better and better and better the more he plays”. He said the player, who turned 22 on Thursday, was already on his iPad on the flight back home after the game, dissecting his play.
Welcome along to the Clunker Bowl as the Texans and Bengals attempt to bounce back from thoroughly miserable displays in week one. Head coach Marvin Lewis and quarterback Andy Dalton have taken heat for playoff failures; imagine the reaction if they are out of the race early for a second straight season. “But he’s shown what he’s shown from day one, I thought”.
It was Watson’s first career National Football League start and it was also his 22nd birthday.
Savage struggled as he failed to lead a scoring drive and was sacked six times, one of which turned into a fumble.
It came in the first half, but given the way the Bengals are playing on offense, it was indeed the decisive play. The Cincinnati offense reached the red zone three times, and couldn’t punch it in, instead settling for three field goals.
In a conference call with Cincinnati reporters on Friday afternoon, Lazor gave no hint of entertaining the idea of replacing Andy Dalton with backup AJ McCarron at quarterback.
“I looked up there, and he was open”, Dalton said.
Meanwhile, right guard Trey Hopkins hurt his left knee late in the first half against the Ravens and will not play in Thursday’s game against the Texans. The team’s next game is set for Sunday, September 24, when they will face the formidable Green Bay Packers.
Now, the Texans have to play an angry team at home trying to avoid an 0-2 start. Not only did they both suffer humiliating defeats in the NFL’s opening weekend slate of games, but both teams’ offenses were awful.

The emotion was crackling through NRG Stadium on Sunday as the Texans managed to stage their opener against Jacksonville despite the recent devastation in the area caused by Hurricane Harvey.
