Cincinnati Bengals: Pull Off Late Win at Jets

-With a game against the Buffalo Bills Thursday night, the Jets won’t have much time to get over Sunday’s narrow loss.

That’s at least what is to be taken away from the Week 1 meeting between the Cincinnati Bengals and New York Jets, when the Bengals receiver teed off on the All-Pro cornerback all day long.

The Jets suffered a heartbreaking loss in their home opener, falling 23-22 to the Cincinnati Bengals, who took the lead on a field goal with 40 seconds remaining.

CINCINNATI (AP) – Andy Dalton had no time to throw the ball and no running game to blunt some of the Jets’ pass rush. “This one was big”. Nick Folk’s 22-yard field goal attempt was blocked in the first quarter – it came off his foot low.

The rest of the way, he was 20 of 23 for 289 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions while getting sacked five more times. They held Jeremy Hill to a yard on the ground and then the Bengals hurt themselves with a false start. The Jets responded on their next drive, started with a 65-yard kickoff return and capped with a 15-yard pass from Fitzpatrick to Eric Decker.

Dalton was flawless on a pair of field goal drives that ended each half.

That’s how Baltimore played defense under Ryan from 1999-2008, and that’s how it won the 2012 Super Bowl. “We messed up in six games”. He’s coming off a season opener where he had a team-leading seven tackles, 1.5 sacks and a pair of quarterback hits.

NY rebounded in the second quarter with a 15-yard touchdown from Fitzpatrick to Eric Decker, which gave the Jets a 13-10 lead. The Bills answered seven minutes later with a 1-yard run from McCoy, pulling to with three just before halftime. We have a bad taste in our mouth from a year ago.

RAVENS 13, BILLS 7 The host Ravens used a touchdown pass by Joe Flacco, two field goals and a throwback defensive performance to beat the Bills. Dalton went 23 for 30, 366 yards, and a touchdown in the win. Larry Fitzgerald lead the Cardinals with 8 receptions for 81 yards and two touchdowns. Osweiler, who signed a $72 million contract from Denver in the offseason, was helped by an offense filled with playmakers.

On the flip side, the Jets’ other superstar player who desperately wishes it was 2010 – Matt Forte – was brilliant for NY on Sunday. They not only lost to the Bills twice previous year, but during their Week 17 meltdown in Orchard Park – a 22-17 defeat that knocked them out of playoff contention – Watkins torched them for 136 yards on 11 catches, including a 38-yard completion. Ryan Tannehill finished the game 16-29 for 186 yards. That’s when Wilson went to work, playing on a right ankle that twisted badly in the third quarter as he was sacked by Ndamukong Suh. “Offense was able to make a play”. On Green’s 54-yard touchdown reception, Revis clearly expected some safety help that was not there.

He had also set the National Football League record for most extra points without a miss with 322 overall, including the playoffs. He was replaced in the starting lineup by C.J. Uzomah. The Ravens would add another field goal in the fourth quarter to cap the game. Garappolo completed 24 of 33 passes with no interceptions.
