Cincinnati Bengals rally to stay flawless, New England Patriots cruise

It matched the second-biggest comeback in Cincinnati’s history when trailing in the fourth quarter.

Although he still hasn’t fessed up to what he tested positive for this summer that got him suspended for four games, San Diego Chargers’ star tight end Antonio Gates returns to action Monday night when the Chargers face the Steelers, who will be led by Mike Vick in place of the injured Ben Roethlisberger.

Cincinnati scored on its opening possession with an 86-yard drive. Seattle punted again and again Dalton took advantage. Jackson called three consecutive run plays, and Bernard gained 6, 13 and 4 yards to set up quarterback Andy Dalton’s 10 yards pass to Tyler Eifert to start the comeback.

The Bengals turned tiger.

-After a putrid showing the previous week against the Detroit Lions, the Seahawks offensive line showed significant signs of improvement in Cincinnati.

Behind Dalton’s pinpoint passing, the special teams play of Adam Jones and a defence that forced six consecutive Seattle punts over the final minutes, the Bengals won a 27-24 overtime thriller.

It wasn’t necessarily close to the biggest blown lead in Seattle history, however (and nowhere close to the biggest collapse in National Football League history, which came when the Houston Oilers let a 32-point lead slip away in a playoff game in 1993). Seattle had not surrendered a 17-point lead since 2004. Both carries were in short yardage situations. “He’s living in the moment and playing in the moment”. They make opponents look foolish on the regular.

“There’s certain guys on the field people just feed off of and the quarterback is certainly on of those guys”, Nugent said. He’s thrown only two interceptions – tied for second-fewest behind Brady, who has yet to throw one.

They can overcome adversity.

“I’m so proud of this team for fighting”.

“It’s huge. We played a really good team”, said Dalton after orchestrating the game-winning drive in OT. “We’ve done a good job of it all season”. In this case, much of Thomas’s return was negated by an unnecessary roughness penalty on DT Michael Bennett after he blocked Bengals QB Andy Dalton and then foolishly went after him on the ground. Cincinnati got the ball first form their own 14 yard line. You might hear about a defense that’s been sacking the opponent’s quarterback or a run game scoring touchdowns or did you hear about the A.J. Green game in Baltimore?

A field goal that even had Neil deGrasse Tyson buzzing. In all three of their losses the season, Seattle has given up a fourth-quarter lead. Rawls busted a 69-yard TD run.

Bobby Wagner then returned a fumble 23 yards for a touchdown, handing a 24-7 lead to the NFL’s second-ranked defence. A couple of Rey’s open-field tackles helped stall Seattle drives as the Bengals rallied from a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit to win in overtime. “It takes four quarters”.

“The second one was just a nice break”, Rodgers said.

Cincinnati overcame an 18-point deficit in the 1997 season opener to beat Arizona, a team that would go on to finish at 4-12.

“We imploded in the third quarter, but we righted ourselves and started putting one play on top of another and kept going”, Lewis said. Nugent almost bungled the game-winning kick, but fate would finally be on Cincinnati’s side: The ball hit the upright and banged through.

Anxiety is a feeling likely shared by fans as well after the Seahawks fell to 2-3 with a surprising meltdown in the fourth quarter and overtime in a 27-24 loss to the Bengals.
