Citrus Bowl matches Florida and MI

The New Year’s Day bowl matchup will be televised nationally by ABC. First-year Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh already has nine wins this year – the second time MI has reached that level in the past eight years.

It was just announced that the Michigan Wolverines of the Big Ten would be facing off against the Florida Gators of the SEC. But playing Florida, that’s an opportunity for your defense to get well. “I think he’ll be able to play in the [Citrus Bowl]”.

“It’s a great Gator city”.

There will be a familiar face on the Florida sideline: offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier, who was in Ann Arbor in 2014, presiding over one of the lowest-scoring MI offenses in the modern era.

We’ll have more on this matchup throughout the next few weeks. The Gators were coached by Urban Meyer, now the Ohio State head coach.

U-M lost quarterback Jake Rudock to a shoulder injury in that game but he is expected to be back for the bowl. Although there are a few other teams that would argue that notion, a New Year’s Day bowl in Harbaugh’s first year isn’t too shabby.

Harbaugh said both are possibilities to secure those jobs permanently. I look at this defensively this being a struggle.

“The future is bright”, McElwain said.

Tickets for the 2016 Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl will be made available to the public on Tuesday, Dec. 8, at 8:30 a.m. Fans interested in purchasing tickets through the athletic department can go to MGoBlue.com/go/bowl for bowl game ticket information.
