City folk celebrate farmer’s market week on Saturday in Danbury
· Boone County Farmers’ Market will host a Taste of the Market from 10 a.m.to 1 p.m. EDT Saturday, Aug. 6.

The farmer’s market in downtown Peoria this weekend will have more on display than the usual offering of fresh produce and artisan foods.
In addition to coordinating farmer’s market programs, Foster also manages several federally funded programs.
Knoxville farmers markets participating in the competition include the Dixie Lee, Market Square, New Harvest Park and the University of Tennessee farmers markets.
With the seemingly infinite bounties of summertime in Minnesota, it’s only right that local produce has its time in the sun. “The webpage provides details on locations, days and times of farmers markets across the state”. From apples to zinnias, MI ranks second only to California for the variety of crops grown. Oregon is home to over 80 farmers markets registered with the Oregon Farmers’ Markets Association. National Farmers Market Week is an annual celebration sponsored by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) which highlights the important role farmers’ markets play in the nation’s food system.
Farmers markets can also be fun. These farm stands and booths at local farmers markets teach kids many skills from gardening, marketing, business skills and customer service, just to name a few. This has proven to be a great learning experience for the 4-Hers and provides campers with fresh produce, pumpkins and more. Markets are making people and communities stronger and healthier. The Seniors Farmers Market Nutrition Program and the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Farmers Market Nutrition Program are created to increase sales for produce growers by encouraging the consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables among qualified senior citizens and individuals in the WIC Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
