Head coach Pep Guardiola of Bayern gestures with Jerome Boateng during the a press conference at National Stadium in day 1 of the FC Bayern Audi China Summer Pre-Season Tour on July 17, 2015 in Beijing, China.
Bayern have offered Guardiola £16million a year to stay, and the 41-year-old was tempted by the offer, but is understood to have chose to leave for the chance to manage in the Premier Leage.
Although, Pellegrini remains in charge of City, but with doubts still surrounding his tactical expertise.
Should Guardiola become available, then City will have a decision to make regarding current boss Pellegrini, who has another year to run on his current contract.
Now it seems as though Guardiola is ready for a new challenge and the Premier League is certainly an intriguing matchup for the coach.
Manchester City are considered the favourites for Guardiola’s services, with Marca specifically mentioning Man City under their headline and Sport Bild mentioning the club is “considered as a potential new employer”. The report added that the Spaniard turned down an extension from Bayern and will join City to surpass Jose Mourinho’s annual £13 million salary with Chelsea.
United have been steady but uninspiring under Louis van Gaal this season, struggling to keep all fans in Old Trafford on side, drawing blanks seven times in all competitions this season.
Guardiola, 44, is halfway through the final year of his contract and says he will announce his decision to renew or go before December 25.
It said Guardiola has repeatedly highlighted that he does not have control over Bayern’s transfer policy and discussed an ongoing row over the medical staff.
“In the first half, we could have rented the Bayern half as a auto park”, Darmstadt coach Dirk Schuster said.
Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked with the former Spain midfielder although he’s 6/1 and 8/1 respectively in Sky Bet’s next manager odds for those two clubs.
