City Will Close Multiple Roads For 1st Vikings Game At New Stadium

On bright sunny Sunday with a noon kickoff, the mood was ebullient even on the light-rail trains where fans gasped “Wow” as the Vikings’ new home came into view.

With sunlight streaming in from the floor-to-ceiling glass on the west side and through the translucent, space-age roof, the Vikings enjoyed a gleaming debut for U.S. Bank Stadium in front of a sold-out crowd of 66,143.

In a day filled with Vikings firsts in the history of U.S. Bank Stadium history, there were good parts and a few parts with room for Minnesota to improve as the regular season approaches.

San Diego Chargers tight end Hunter Henry (86) is tackled by Minnesota Vikings free safety Harrison Smith (22) and cornerback Trae Waynes, right.

Meanwhile, the Vikings veteran quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has battled some injuries during the 2016 National Football League preseason opener, but he should be ready to go on Sunday night’s clash in against the San Diego. The San Diego Chargers appeared to have him in trouble.

“Just being more patient, that’s always been the main thing”, Peterson said. He has been working on building back arm strength, and should be at 100 percent for the regular season opener.

Bridgewater completed 12 of 16 pass attempts, and threw for 161 yards and a touchdown. If something were to happen to Adrian Peterson, the Vikings would have a solid option in McKinnon – and as long as Peterson’s healthy, they’ll be able to use McKinnon in different ways.

This would be the first game action for Sharrif Floyd, someone the defensive line has sorely missed while the Vikings defense have been gashed in the running game thus far. “It’s just got to get broken in a little bit”. Clemmings was put in a hard spot last season when Phil Loadholt ruptured his Achilles’ early in the preseason and the rookie fourth-round pick had to take over as the starter.

The pass to Rudolph over the middle gave the Vikings the lead for good at 12-10 with 1:18 left in the first half.

U.S. Bank Stadium’s huge doors opened for the first time Friday, Aug. 26, 2016, in Minneapolis.

Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater returned after sitting out one preseason game with an apparent sore shoulder, and he looked crisp.

Vikings: WR Laquon Treadwell made a tricky catch on a fade route in the corner of the end zone on a 2-point conversion pass from Shaun Hill.

It marked the first time Walsh had kicked in a home game of any sort since missing a 27-yard field goal with 22 seconds left in a 10-9 playoff lost to Seattle last January at TCF Bank Stadium. I, for one, am excited to see it in person.
