Civil Aviation Authority issues Samsung Note 7 phone warning

Verizon mentioned the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recall of the Galaxy Note 7 and continued on with describing the latest premium flagship smartphone.

The company is including software on the new versions to let users know they’ve got a safe model: a green battery icon on the status bar, the always-on display screen and the shut-down screen.

However, it looks set to face a tough time convincing new buyers that the Galaxy Note 7 is safe.

For those who haven’t returned their Samsung Galaxy Note 7 handsets, Samsung has come up with a few ideas on how to address it. It may seem that the South Korean Agency wants to make sure that all Galaxy Note 7 owners were informed of the recall and that all faulty devices are returned.

Only 4.5 percent of Note 7 owners, or about 18,000 people, received a full refund. In many territories, Samsung has new Galaxy Note 7 units at the ready and is set to resume sales soon. With consumers reporting that the high-end phones were overheating and catching fire, Samsung stopped sales on September 2, just two weeks its launch, and recalled 2.5 million units citing a battery manufacturing error. Globally Samsung estimates that it has to replace some 2.5 million Galaxy Note 7 devices. But the agency on Wednesday had praise for Samsung when asked about the company’s actions directly preceding and following that announcement.

“What we are seeing through accounts on social media and news accounts is that there are consumers who are still using the phone”, Wolfson said.

When it comes to exploding phones, the cause is almost always down to the battery. With that option now off the table, unless Samsung complies with the government’s request and establishes a new deadline, consumers can only get a replacement unit.
