Class of 2016 Miles Bridges commits to Michigan State

On Saturday, 5-star recruit Miles Bridges announced that he will be attending Michigan State to play basketball.

In the end, Miles Bridges picked MSU over Kentucky. That’s the big question. The 6-foot-6 swingman, who is now playing at Huntington Prep in West Virginia, made his announcement in his hometown of Flint at Steve Schmidt Gymnasium at Mott Community College by pulling a Green and White hat from beneath the table in front of him, his mother and two sisters.

The Flint Journal-MLive.com will live stream the decision in this post. It was not a rash decision as Izzo has been all in on Bridges since he was a sophomore.

“Cassius is my boy and I actually thought he was going to Michigan”, Bridges said Saturday after picking the Spartans.

Bridges joins Winston, Lincoln (Gahanna, Ohio) center Nick Ward and Madison Academy (Madison, Ala.) shooting guard Josh Langford to form the Spartans 2016 recruiting class thus far.

“I knew… when Cassius committed (on September 18)”.

Reports also have the Spartans still in the mix for the No. 3 overall player in the class, 6-7 forward Josh Jackson from Southfield. Over 22 games with his grassroots program, Michigan-based The Family, Bridges averaged 21.0 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. The city produced four players-Mateen Cleaves, Morris Peterson, Antonio Smith and Charlie Bell-who helped the program achieve NCAA tournament success around the turn of the century, including a national championship in 2000 (Smith graduated in 1999). Bridges is a tremendous athlete who creates matchup problems due to his ability to score inside and out, and he’s really tough to handle in transition.

With this latest pledge, Izzo is in the midst of perhaps the greatest recruiting class of his career.
