Scott was fan-voted as captain of the Pacific Division team while he was still a member of the Arizona Coyotes. You might say it was not treating him “fairly”.

When Scott, who made it clear he was considering dropping out of the All-Star game for a time, apparently did not do so quickly enough, his team traded him to a team (the Canadiens) that immediately sent him to the minors.

He was lifted onto the shoulders of his teammates after being announced as the MVP. “I don’t want her to go into labor during the game”, Scott joked. “I am not a very light guy – I’m nearly 275 pounds, when I’m soaking wet I’m about 300 pounds. I just cannot believe it. You really can’t put it into words”.
Scott wasn’t one of the three choices fans were given for the MVP award, but the league said he got an “overwhelming”, number of votes via Twitter.
Scott, a longtime enforcer in a league moving away from lumbering fighters, became a fan-favorite in the All-Star voting this year. You can’t write this stuff. “Everybody thought it was going to be a bad thing for hockey and it’s turned out to probably be one of the best stories in hockey”.
It was a fun-filled fight to the million dollar prize as John Scott added an exciting element to the All Star game that’s been missing for years.
“What a moment”, Islanders forward John Tavares said of Scott’s first goal. Perhaps that’s why he is willing to stick around as National Hockey League commissioner into the next decade.

I give him a lot of credit for what he did, and I think at the same time it created some curiosity in the games.
