Claudio Ranieri has joked that there is more chance of E.T. landing in Piccadilly Circus than Leicester retaining their Premier League title.

At least he didn’t say he would appear publicly is his trousers if they manage it.

This time past year Leicester went into the 2015/16 campaign having just avoided relegation, but they confounded the pundits to claim a first Premier League title, finishing 10 points clear, with Morgan playing every minute of the campaign.

Ultimately, Ranieri added speculation and current interest in the Algerian worldwide is merely the nature of football and form.

“It’s a small squad at the moment but small squads have worked together well in the past, although we know that we definitely need to make additions to it”. Leicester had beat all odds to lift the Premier League title.

“The big teams are used to playing in it, for us it is new”.

“I watch very well the match against Manchester United and we still have the same hunger, same humility, same passion”.

Last season’s success was Ranieri’s first top-flight league title of a managerial career spanning three decades after second-placed finishes with Chelsea, Juventus, Roma and Monaco. “40 points again, it is very important”, he added.

He said: “I know at the beginning it will be really hard because we have to forget the last season”. So I say the bookmakers must do 6,000-1. “Tell me if there is one”, he said.

“Riyad will stay with us”. Also to make a good experience in the Champions League.

Ranieri has hit back at reports by claiming that Mahrez wants to stay at the Premier League champions and his impact can not be overestimated.

Ranieri follows Jamie Vardy, Wes Morgan, goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel in committing his future to Leicester who begin their title defence on Saturday afternoon with an away game to newly promoted Hull City. When there is all this attention around your name it’s because you are doing well. “He is a big player and he needs to feel there are other teams and managers who want him”.
