Claudio Ranieri claims title rivals are the ones under pressure

Leicester City’s push for the Premier League title just won’t die.

Claudio Ranieri’s men put Watford to the sword with a 1-0 win thanks to Riyad Mahrez’s tidy finish at Vicarage Road.

Mahrez, a £400,000 signing from French second division side Le Havre, scored his 15th league goal with a strike befitting of his incredible season.

“I said no, but after the last match Ladbrokes upped their offer to $55,000”.

Sceptics claimed that Leicester would crumble after their midweek draw against West Brom but Ranieri insists his side are enjoying every minute and it is their rivals that will be feeling the pressure.

Leicester lead the standings on 60 points with Tottenham on 55, Arsenal 52 and Manchester City 50.

“Of course the Premier League is really strong, but I’m not a player who likes new challenges just for the sake of it. The future will tell”, he added.

After the match, Ranieri stated that the two were “already ready” to have an impact and it was this vital intervention that allowed the East-Midlanders to assume “control” of the match and eventually “score a fantastic goal”.

Other than an Ighalo header in the 81st minute which looped straight into the welcome arms of Kasper Schmeichel, Watford were unable to penetrate a rock solid Leicester defence and the league leaders held on for an excellent win. The mentality is what I questioned – how would that change when they got to the top of the league.

Neutrals will be hoping Leicester secure a dramatic, last-day victory over the current title holders but Ranieri’s men will be desperate to get the title won sooner rather than later. “No. We are focussed and everything could happen”.

The Foxes fan, who lives in Warwickshire, has made a decision to cash out on his audacious bet from the start of the season that his side would end up as the English champions, thus turning his back on a potential win of £250,000.

Arsenal was leading 1-0 through Aaron Ramsey’s first-half goal when Francis Coquelin was sent off in the 55th for a second booking, sparking an immediate turnaround in arguably the biggest match between the teams since the 1991 FA Cup semifinal.
